Software engineer – Computer vision

Software engineer – Computer vision

EIVA is a hardware and software engineering company which provides solutions for subsea applications. Our customers specialise in renewable energy, oil and gas exploration, seabed-to-surface construction and hydrographic surveys, just to mention a few.

Our software, NaviSuite, is among the most utilised and high-end in the industry, offering users a multi-purpose solution known for its versatility and efficiency. It supports navigation, as well as data acquisition, processing and analysis for a wide variety of vessel types – and we are constantly integrating new technologies like AI to enable low-carbon, remote and autonomous operations.

We are on the lookout for an additional crew member to join our machine learning and computer vision development team. Your work will make the software do the hard work for our customers as they successfully map oceans, discover forgotten mines, set up wind farms at sea and much more.

You will be an integrated part of our development team of software and survey engineers, working closely with electronics and mechanical engineers in our R&D department. This includes taking part in and impacting our day-to-day agile and scrum-inspired development roadmap.

Technical software project manager

In this video, you can see some NaviSuite software tools in action – including NaviPac’s autopilot coverage assistance tool and NaviSuite Deep Learning for image recognition and enabling autonomous navigation

You’ll be working with…

  • Computer vision – for example using Visual SLAM
  • Machine/deep learning – for example enabling autonomous navigation, identifying coral habitats, improving mussel farming and more
  • Augmented reality for subsea navigation, construction and more
  • Robotics and autonomous systems such as AUVs and ASVs
  • Software for surface and subsea positioning, manoeuvring and advanced 3D navigation
  • 3D visualisation of dynamic and static data, including vessels, drones, structures, and water column, seabed or sediment data
  • Point cloud generation, editing and visualisation – via very large data sets
  • Mesh networking

Does a strong interest in these disciplines serve as your compass? It is not a requirement that you have experience with all of the above disciplines, but it will be considered an advantage the more you are experienced or interested in.

You will work on these areas using techniques such as Microsoft .NET / Visual Studio, C++, Python, C#, SLAM, Robust model estimation, mathematical optimization, parallel data processing (via for example GPU), automated test, unit test, data-/code-driven test, 3D, projective and multiple view geometries – and maybe even technologies you suggest?

The ideal candidate...

  • Has a background as a software developer, holding a degree in computer science, software engineering or similar
  • Has experience with machine learning and deep vision – from their studies or previous positions (this is a requirement)
  • Strives to create efficient, user-friendly and reliable solutions
  • Has strong English skills, both written and verbal – this is a requirement as you can work with EIVA’s partners and customers from across the seven seas

We operate in a niche industry, so don’t worry if you’re new to the maritime world, we’ll equip you with the necessary introduction before you’re thrown into the coding waters.

You'll be working out of EIVA's offices in Stilling, Denmark – just one minute away from the E45, 15 minutes away from Aarhus by car, and easy to get to by bus.
